Description

Cobheran and I were fascinated by the story behind Rhaegar and Lyanna, as their roles were so pivotal in causing most of the aftermath in the realm. We came up with designs for these characters based on book descriptions and research on Michele Clapton's costume design style in the show. We hope to see these characters make an appearance on TV, it would be so cool to actually see the Battle of the Trident.

Construction details for Lyanna:
I made my jewelry crown of blue roses by 3D printing base pieces, sculpting clay roses, and wire-bending. I wanted the laurel to be more than just woven flowers to bring home the point that receiving this crown was a really big and enviable deal. I researched different styles of circlets to come up with my design
, and took cues from Indian jewelry as I have always appreciated the intricacy of most styles. I modeled and 3D-printed base pieces, then drilled into them and used dimensional paint for decoration. The rest was just play with 20 gauge wire, pearls, and glass beads.

The gown has a corset built into it with plastic zip tires for boning. I came up with the pattern myself, and used the undercorset as a mock-up for the actual dress's bodice. I really liked the collar on Cersei's red gown for Joffrey's wedding, so I used a similar neckline on my own gown. The collar was then covered in a fur shawl. In total I used about 11 yards of fabric, and I still felt like my skirt didn't flow enough. @_@ The material was a wide-woven off-white silk, and the faux fur was purchased from Sewing Studio.

The wig was a gorgeous natural black, which I hardly had to style as it came with soft curls. Most Lyanna Stark cosplayers use a brown color, which I think looks quite lovely, but I wanted something that matched more Jon Snow's hair in the show.

I used gray contacts to make my hazel eyes match the book's eyecolor description of her, and used a softer make-up style.
